SEVEN – THE TAKEOVER

The rain still comes down in the city of Birmingham and the family is all gathered around the dinner table. Laura assumes control of the discussion with her words.

“If anybody has any regrets or wants to back out, now is your time to do it. Once you’re in, you’re in all the way.”

They all look at each other and know for sure they have a difficult task at hand.

“Good. Let’s just hope I can count on all of you.”

Porter feels like there’s been a jab thrown at him.

“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”

His voice gets loud and Daniel, having a problem with that, stands up right away.

“Watch your mouth around my mother.”

Laura grabs his hand.

“Now baby relax, just relax. Porter here has a right to speak his mind when he needs to. He didn’t mean anything by it.”

“Let’s all just come down and remember why we are here,” says Raven.

Laura concurs.

“She’s right.”

Daniel takes a deep breath and sits down.

“Our main goal is to get to Simon and get some answers. Some of us want to do more than that but that only happens after we get all of our answers.” says Raven

“He has hired hitmen all over the country so we really have to watch where we go and keep our moves very quiet,” says Porter. “It’s not going to be hard getting back to the agency. The problem is that we can’t all travel together, it will look very suspicious.

“He makes a very good point. At some juncture we have to go our own separate ways for us get everything in order.”

No one disagrees with any of the suggestions being made, so Laura just continues to speak.

“The number one thing we have to do is get Simon alone. Now that he is aware of the fact that you didn’t go through with your assignment, he should be traveling armed to the teeth with security at the moment.”

Porter looks at Raven. Laura takes notice.

“What was that look for?”

“Oh nothing really.”

“Anyway as I was saying, we all know he will walk around with at least two armed men at all times. His house will be guarded and so will the agency.”

“That’s where Porter comes in,” says Raven.

“What does that mean?”

“He knows and has all the blueprints to the whole facility.”

Porter rolls out all the blueprints he has brought with him. He starts to point all over the copies.

“It would be easier for us to go through this sewer entrance. It’s been blocked off for years but a good set of bolt cutters will take care of all that.”

Laura has to take a closer look.

“Trust me they won’t see it coming.”

“Trust is a big word,” says Laura.

He gives her a slight smirk, but continues outlining his plan.

“I’ll take care of all the logistics. Obviously she won’t be there because of…”

“Because of what?” asks Laura.

“Because you just had a baby and someone needs to be with him.”

“I was just making sure we are on the same page,” she says.
